To the editor: I was interested to read the paper by Lockey, Rucknagel, and Vanselow, (Ann Intern Med 78:57-63, 1973) reporting two families with the syndrome of asthma, nasal polyposis, and aspirin sensitivity. Considering the relatively high prevalence of asthma occurring in families, familial aspirin-induced asthma appears to be rare, there being only one other case report in the literature (1). Samter and Beers (2) found no examples of familial aspirin disease in their groups of more than 1000 patients.
