Designed as a textbook for physicians, general practitioners, and students, this volume is little changed from the original by Lord Brain; in fact, many paragraphs are identical. Some categories have been expanded, such as isotopic cisternography and brain scanning in the evaluation of hydrocephalus and tumors. Included in the newer topics are "normal pressure hydrocephalus," subacute myelo-optic neuropathy, the use of levodopa in the treatment of Parkinsonism, and the so-called "slow" virus diseases.
