Starting with Edwards's embryonic double aortic arch system, the authors clearly explain the development of essentially all the theoretic variations in aortic arch malformations. The diagrams with accompanying descriptions are well done and make the embryologic development of the aortic arch abnormalities easy to comprehend for the student. For those of us who are lumpers, there is an effective classification system with clear divisions into separate chapters for an orderly progression.
