The dual title illustrates both advantages and shortcomings of the second volume in the standard series on methods and techniques in the clinical laboratory. The authors have compiled a comprehensive and accurate text of clinical enzymology including both methodologies and applications. The addition of 167 pages of biochemical profiles appears to be an attempt to remedy their omission from the series' first volume, Methods and Techniques in Clinical Chemistry.
Our main criticism of the text is that the chapter headings and organization give little clue to its purpose or intended use. Once the reader discovers "what the book is about,"
