The birth of a new specialty provides for the growth and development not only of the specialty itself, but of many associated functions—textbooks, journals, associations, and services. Primary Care is just such a quarterly publication. With several other journals aiming to serve the physician in primary care and the competition for readership, I was disappointed to see the same topics in the first issue of Primary Care that have been in the first few issues of two or three of the other periodicals.
