MARK R. STEIN, M.D.
To the editor: Drs. Sergent and Christian in their paper on necrotizing vasculitis (Ann Intern Med 81:195-199, 1974) made the comment "All patients tested were anergic to all skin tests employed." I hope the authors will provide additional information: How many of their seven patients were tested? Which skin test antigens were used; in what concentrations? Was there any documentation of skin testing in these patients before the onset of vasculitis? Have the skin tests been repeated after the vasculitis was controlled? Have any in-vitro tests of T-lymphocyte (T-cell) function or T-lymphocyte counts (1) been done?
