Professor Weissbluth is a physicist at Stanford University. That a physicist should write a monograph on hemoglobin is testimony to the ecumenical flavor of hemoglobin research in the 1970s. Regrettably the author has approached his task in a decidedly parochial manner so that the resultant treatise is, for the most part, by, of, and for physicists or theoretical physical chemists.
