To the editor: Doctor Paul A. L. Haber, Deputy Assistant Chief Medical Director for Professional Services, and I were gratified to read the report of Brickner and colleagues in the January issue on the care of homebound aged. Doctor Philip Brickner and his colleagues have correctly pointed out the importance of this kind of program in reaching the needs of the many patients who ordinarily might not come in to any health-care delivery system until it was determined that they need long-term institutional care. The editorial in that same issue gives further evidence of need for such a program.
