The first volume, after a short survey of the "inflammatory diseases" in which the "antiinflammatory" drugs are used in treatment, gives systematic reviews of the chemistry and pharmacology of steroidal and nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (including salicylates and gold) and allopurinol. The second volume covers investigative and evaluative objectives and methods, and classes of drug effects. Although emphasis is on chemistry, this monograph should be useful to academic clinicians in clinical immunology and rheumatology as a reference source and for background reading pertinent to design of clinical trials.
Each volume has its own author and subject indexes.
