To the editor: The paper "Glomerulitis in Typhoid Fever" (Ann Intern Med 81:210-213, 1974) and the comment "Immune-Complex Disease in Typhoid Fever" (Ann Intern Med 82:720-721, 1975) are indeed most interesting and important. Few physicians are aware of the occurrence of the nephrotic syndrome in Salmonella infections. Patients with schistosomiasis and chronic Salmonella typhi or Salmonella paratyphi A bacteremia with or without bacteriuria have features so characteristic that they form a distinct syndrome (1, 2) ; in Egypt, some of these patients develop classic nephrotic syndrome.
