Despite its relative rarity in clinical medicine, disseminated intravascular coagulation is a popular and controversial subject. The authors present an extensive survey of disseminated intravascular coagulation based on their personal experiences at one hospital. In depth information on the definition, etiology, clinical features, laboratory findings, pathology, and therapeutic modalities is given in 14 chapters. The patients were thoroughly studied, including detailed post-mortem examination. Almost all of the information in the book has been published priviously in a series of papers by the same authors. Previously unpublished data are presented in complex tables which are difficult to analyze.
