In the preface the authors state, "This volume describes the techniques of endoscopic and radiologic examinations (of the stomach) and the principles of macroscopic diagnosis based on our experience." A more appropriate title might be "Differential Diagnosis of Gastric Tumors" since all of the emphasis is on protruding and excavated lesions of the stomach. Sixty pages are devoted to the fundamentals of X-ray diagnosis, with 18 pages covering the essentials of gastric endoscopy.
The introductory section is followed by 168 pages of illustrative case presentations with brief clinical résumés, X-ray pictures, gastrophotographs, and, in some cases, the histologic findings. Treatment
