The 2nd of August issue of the British Medical Journal brought the news that Dr. Martin Ware has retired from its editorship and is succeeded by Dr. Stephen Lock.
Dr. Ware's service for nine and a half years was in a hard time for British enterprises. Inflation, bad enough in the rest of the world, was fierce in Great Britain close to the point of blowing away her economic sails, and it struck all aspects of publishing, whether commercial or scholarly, no less than other British enterprises.
