One of the editors of the Year Book of Medicine, Paul Heller, has recently commented (1) on the burdens of selecting important papers for his section in that annual survey:
If a computer could be programmed in such a way that it could separate from the vast and continuously expanding universe of medical literature the important and valuable contributions and match them with the interests of the practicing internist and his needs for continuing education, the lot of an editor would, indeed, be a happy one, and his efforts could be ideally productive and his intentions of providing the reader
