To the editor: Doctors Murray and Mann (Ann Intern Med 83:740-741, 1975) do not like the term "humpfever." But why not "butte" or "mesa" fever? Either adjective fits in appended Figure 1. The tracings remind one of cross-sections of Arizona landscape. The correspondents guessed rightly. I am not a football fan and read a book at the only game (Army-Navy) ever attended. But I have seen buttes and mesas. Anyway, all three terms exceed the descriptive value of "goalpost" fever.
