Although it is comprehensive in its coverage, I doubt this monograph will have any major significant therapeutic value for the patient receiving acupuncture therapy. It is divided into five chapters: history, Chinese diagnosis and therapy, the meridians, our experimental and clinical research work, and usage of the points and meridians. Chapter four describes the authors' excellent, controlled, experimental work on how the acupuncture effect is directly transmitted by the nervous system and shows its use as an anesthetic agent in surgery.
