These are two books of very different quality: Dr. Vander's is good but too superficial; the book by Drs. Bauman and Chinard is quite poor.
Dr. Vander is the author of a well-known textbook on general physiology. Here he attempts to provide a core of information on the kidney for medical students and other students of health sciences. His book proceeds very logically from the anatomy of the kidney through the concepts of renal clearance measurements, salt and water regulation, acid-base balance, and potassium as well as calcium and phosphate metabolism.
