Why should a journal whose readers are largely physicians review a book of psychological and spiritual advice, or, as the authors subtitle it, a "book of personal growth?" To be sure, one of the authors is a physician, but so were Somerset Maugham and Anton Chekhov. The answer takes one to that border country known to every sensitive physician where the care and healing of the human body is enhaneed or confounded by the problems in living with which patients struggle.
