To the editor: Because venereal disease has reached epidemic proportions in the United States a national organization has taken on the task of directing victims to treatment. Operation Venus, a national hotline centered in Philadelphia, provides information on treatment centers, clinics, and physicians to callers from all over the continental U.S. The problem is that approximately 2000 counties in the U.S. have no treatment centers and no physicians to whom suspected victims can be referred.
Operation Venus is looking for physicians who will provide tests and treatment to persons with venereal disease, at nominal fees or on a sliding-fee scale.
