To the editor: I read with interest the recent paper by Stein, Hasan, and Fox, "Ascorbic Acid-Induced Uricosuria" (Ann Intern Med 84:385-388, 1976).
In 1963 we published a paper "Influencia de la Vitamina C Sobre la Excrecion Del Acido Urico" [Influence of Vitamin C on Uric Acid Excretion] (Rev Clin Esp 89:101, 1963), in which we reported that a 0.5 g/day dose of vitamin C led to a significant increase of uric acid excretion in five of six cases studied by us.
