Of these three relatively short textbooks of urology, the one by Lapides is the most substantial in scope and detail. It provides more "medical" content than older urology textbooks, for example, in its chapters on renal function, medical care for hypertension, and endocrine disorders. Surgical procedures are described briefly. Each chapter carries book and journal-article references.
