English-language translations of 22 mostly German-language classic papers in respiratory physiology from 1853 to 1936. The main topics represented are pulmonary pressure and flow functions, regulation of respiration, and blood gas dynamics; a preponderance of papers are by Fritz Rohrer, Karl Wirz, K. V. Neergaard, Hans Winterstein, Christian Bohr, or K. A. Hasselbalch. Includes a subject and author index to the translated papers. Will be a valuable addition to the library of the serious student of respiratory physiology who cannot readily read scientific German.
