The socratic method has been a time-honored teaching tool. When expertly used, it can focus upon the specific details of a subject in a concise fashion, drawing the reader into the logical framework without losing him in detail. This monograph, in its second edition, uses the technique effectively in discussing cardiovascular diagnosis. The valuable checklist in history taking is again included as a preface to the main topic of physical examination.
