Thirty-two papers that represent the proceedings of the International Conference on the Sociology of Medicine, held 20 to 25 August 1973, in Warsaw. The meeting gave its participants the opportunity to compare and contrast sociologic concepts, methods, and topics in free and communist European countries and in North America. Topics likely to interest clinicians include health-team care, sociology of venereal disease, motivation and ethical values in the professions of medicine and nursing. Two groups of papers deal with characteristics of national health systems and non-systems and with sociology as a medical school discipline.
