The Seventeenth Alfred Newton Richards Symposium, sponsored by the Physiological Society of Philadelphia, 19 to 20 May 1975, in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. Newer concepts in hypertension research discussed include volume hypertension and diuretics; vasoconstrictor hypertension and the renin-angiotensin system; cyclic nucleotides; control of arterial pressure by central alpha-adrenergic, beta-adrenergic, and dopaminergic receptors; and peripheral vasodilators in combination therapy. New antihypertensive drugs and methods of administration are also reviewed.
