To the editor: I read with interest the recent paper "Peritoneal Dialysis for Psoriasis (Ann Intern Med 88:349-351, 1978). The protocol description does not state whether heparin was used in the dialysis solution, which is customary. I think this may be important in regard to the improvement reported.
In the early 1960s, we used intermittent heparin injections in certain patients with coronary heart disease. I recall two patients with severe psoriasis who had dramatic clearing of their lesions when this therapy was instituted.
It might be interesting to use heparin alone in the reported patients should their lesions recur.
