Examination of the urinary sediment using bright-field, phase-contrast and polarized-light. Excellent illustrations of methods. The importance in correlating the various urinary sediment elements is emphasized, and correlations are illustrated and classified. Includes a comparison of bright-field versus light contrast and polarized-light in classification of the urinary sediment. Of value to residents, medical students, and laboratory technicians who will examine urinary sediment from patients with renal disease, but may not be of great value to renal fellows or nephrologists.
