Divorce rates from the National Center for Health Statistics for the early and mid 1970s, by age, race, number of this marriage, and number of children, for each reporting State, with estimated national rates by duration of marriage based on denominator data from the 1970 Decennial Census.
"Since 1963, numbers of divorces and divorce rates have increased rapidly. This increase continued through 1976, but it was less rapid than for earlier years. Similar increases were found in many foreign countries."
