Two well-known cardiac surgeons review the history of operations for coronary disease, some aspects of the gross pathology found in the arteries, interpretation of angiographic and catheterization studies, preoperative preparation of the patient, conduct of the operation, and postoperative management. The handsome layout, typographical accuracy, and excellent illustrations make their book highly readable. At the end of each chapter is a representative bibliography; in all, there are over 200 recent references, approximately 10% of which are to the authors' own publications.
Of greatest value is the lengthy chapter (one quarter of the book) on operative technique, which is thorough, direct,
