This English-Spanish guide for medical personnel begins by providing Spanish translations for common English phrases, enabling a physician as he enters the examining room to greet a Spanish-speaking patient, to introduce himself, and to explain whether he speaks any Spanish. The physician also can learn to give some simple instructions and reassure the patient. The guide then moves on to everyday questions and answers that would help a physician in evaluating a patient, although it is not clear how the physician will understand the patient's answers: An interpreter may be necessary.
