To the editor: Valproic acid (Depakene®) is a newly approved drug for the treatment of seizures. Its availability is a significant advance because valproic acid is effective in many types of seizures and is relatively free of serious side effects. The Epilepsy Branch of the National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke (NINCDS) has prepared a classified bibliography on valproic acid to aid in its continued investigation and its application to clinical practice.
