The intended audience for this book is the practicing physician; however, much of the book is written at a lower level. There are two well-written sections on areas of interest to the pulmonary disease specialist that are not generally covered in books of this type. The section on bronchospastic disorders, although brief, contains an excellent overview of modern concepts of mediators and immunoglobulins. The second interesting section is that on hypobaric and hyperbaric states. Although patients with either one of these problems are rare, knowing where to find at least some information on them is reassuring.
