A brief historical survey of major anatomical illustrators (such as Vesalius, da Vinci, Albinus) and major artists who used anatomical themes (Dürer, Rembrandt, Eakins, Tchelitchew, Baskin), with attention to characteristics of anatomical illustration in diverse cultures (medieval Europe, China, Japan, Arab medicine). The large color reproductions are adequately accurate, and several are good enough to be framed by medical students who wish to grace their dormitory rooms with inexpensive but pertinent art. An attractive gift.
