Comments and papers given in October 1978 at a Colloquium on Biomedical Ethics at the University of Western Ontario. Contents follow what is fast becoming a stock formula for such "interdisciplinary" conferences: sections on rights and moral decisions (with discussion of "legalism" and of the rights of the terminally ill); issues in genetics; the role of the physician; informed consent and paternalism; and professional responsibility. The point/counterpoint nature of the essays and their accompanying comments give this volume a slightly different slant.
