To the editor: In his editorial note "New Light on the Insulin Controversy," Hudson (1) has done a remarkable job in placing matters in the right perspective. His account lacks, however, mention of Zuelzer, who had successfully prepared an extract of pancreas that had considerably reduced glycosuria when administered intravenously into a pancreatectomized dog. He had also tried his extract on eight hospitalized patients in 1908 and observed some improvement in all, with striking results in two. In fact in 1912 the Hoechst Company acquired Zuelzer's patent in a contract and agreed to pay him 6000 marks plus a portion
