A more cohesive presentation of this topic would have been provided by comprehensive chapters dealing with individual anatomic sites and integrating the sections on pathology, diagnosis, staging, and therapeutic management. Such a format also would have eliminated the extensive repetition of material that occurs in the text. An additional criticism involves the inclusion of material irrelevant to the subject of urologic cancer, the chapter on design of clinical trials being the prime example. Likewise, reiteration of radiobiologic principles as well as biochemical mechanisms and cellular kinetics as related to chemotherapy is scarcely necessary in multiple textbooks.
