To the editor: In their article on reproducibility of hemoglobin A1c Dunn and associates (1) provide much useful information about this promising laboratory procedure but none on its reproducibility. Because the lack of reproducibility of the standard estimates of glucose tolerance has been a major handicap to the interpretation of these tests, such data for the new procedure would be of considerable interest. Their repeat measurements in 121 persons (Group 3) should provide useful information on this point that could be simply expressed as the correlation coefficients between the first and second measurements of hemoglobin A1c and of fasting glucose.
