A cursory look through the pages of this new book, which is coauthored by a well-known academic hepatologist and a gastroenterologist who spent his more recent years in the pharmaceutical industry, may leave the casual observer with a feeling that a moderately important clinical subject has been trivialized and that there is little to interest the serious-minded physician.
