Last month the Edward R. Loveland Memorial Award of the American College of Physicians was bestowed on The National Library of Medicine for its invaluable contributions "to the improvement of health in this nation . . . as a collector of information, a cataloguer of information, and an innovator of techniques for the dissemination of information."
