As the editors state in the Preface, this book is a compilation of the major scientific developments in and current clincial applications of cardiac pacing. This is one of several books that have appeared recently on this subject and has the usual conglomeration of chapters by different authors. They address their book to residents, house officer, internists, surgeons, nurses, and bioengineers; cardiologists are conspicuously absent from the list.
