The authors, both from the University of Cincinnati, have written the first in a planned series of nephrology texts. The editors state that the series is intended for the nephrologist and the general physician interested in nephrology.
The first three chapters deal with the basic concepts of proteinuria, including mechanism of protein excretion, protein metabolism, and proteins in the urine. The next five chapters deal with pathophysiology—prerenal, glomerular, and tubular proteinuria and associated disease states. The last two chapters describe experimental nephritis and methods of urinary protein analysis.
