Thirty-six eminent contributors have produced the 29 chapters of this book, which is introduced by a fine half-century overview from the vantage point of one highly experienced thyroidologist. The chapters are self-contained monographs that vary in depth, quality, and style. Most are excellent crystalizations of the voluminous literature, and there are a few comprehensive discussions. Some important subjects are inadequately treated—for example, thyroid nodules.
