In 1968 the faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine developed a textbook of medicine that emphasized the clinical approach to patients based on the heritage and teachings of William Osler. It was not designed to be encyclopedic and was organized according to clinical problems and syndromes, rather than specific diseases.
The current edition has been revised and is generally up to date, including a concise and excellent new section on geriatrics and several fully revised sections, such as the section on cutaneous disease. It should be useful to medical students, nurse practitioners, and physicians.
