A considerable amount of recent interest and basic investigation have focused on aplastic anemia, partly because of the availability of in-vitro techniques to study stem cells and partly because experimental therapies such as bone marrow transplantation and antithymocyte globulin have been reported to be useful. Dr. Geary and colleagues review etiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, and treatment. Most contributors are from the United Kingdom and the book reflects European prejudices in the selection of literature citation and in treatment recommendations.
