To the editor: Dr. Stead and his coinvestigators in Arkansas have published six communications (1-6) on what Stead calls a "new" form of treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis that he regards as "a quiet revolution" (6). His method represents a modification of the short-course chemotherapy regimen devised by the British Thoracic Association in about 1972 and recommended by that group as the "treatment of choice" for pulmonary tuberculosis in 1976 (7).
