With the increasing "graying of America" and the high prevalence (from 10% to 30%) of neuropsychiatric illness in the elderly, books such as this can contribute to the provision of care. This book focuses not on the psychologic difficulties of the elderly and not so much on psychologic reactions to their physical ailments, but instead examines neuropsychiatric problems in the elderly that are directly related to some physical disease process. Various organ systems are considered with a view to how their disruptions influence mental status.
