To the editor: We write to add our observations on the association of active pulmonary tuberculosis with hypercalceamia to those of Abbasi and colleagues (1) and Need and Phillips (2). Between July 1980 and March 1981, we prospectively studied 50 consecutive patients with active pulmonary tuberculosis.
The survey period for each patient was 9 weeks or more. Twenty-five healthy persons matched for age and sex served as a control group. No patient received vitamin D supplement for at least two months before or during the study. Serum calcium was corrected for serum albumin in both patient and control groups according
to gain full access to the content and tools.
