This volume is part of the series, Comprehensive Endocrinology. The editors state that beginning with Dr. Lawson Wilkins, who first fostered the emergence of clinicians competent in dealing with the pediatric aspects of endocrinology, the field has enlarged. This great clinician single-handedly wrote The Diagnosis and Treatment of Endocrine Disorders in Childhood and Adolescence in 1950 and it went through three editions. Alas, it is no longer in print and there has not been an adequate replacement for this remarkable classic.
