This brief, simple review of liver diseases is aimed at the nonspecialist who only occasionally sees patients with liver disease. It is intended to provide information for physicians without the "time, opportunity or inclination" to read more comprehensive texts or the appropriate literature. Included are four chapters on diagnostic approaches that review conventional biochemical liver function tests, liver biopsy, and modem noninvasive and invasive diagnostic procedures. Eleven chapters cover the major classes of liver disease. Two or three selected references are included at the end of each chapter.
