Twenty-seven papers originally presented at the Seventieth Annual Meeting of the American Psychopathological Association. The first section includes clinical psychopharmacologic studies of antibenzodiazepines, and beta-blocking agents in relation to anxiety. The second deals with genetics and the illness course of anxiety. Basic science issues emphasizing the role of animal studies in research on anxiety make up the third edition. The final section presents clinical studies from epidemiologic and pharmacologic research to reports on biochemical correlates of anxiety and outlines theoretical reformulations based on recent findings.
